Millions of adults worldwide attempt to write humorous things on a daily basis with little to no success.
Take us for instance.
Kids, on the other hand, often compose side-achingly hilarious quips with no real intention of being humorous. They’re pint-sized poets viewing the world through Groucho Marx glasses who scratch out their observations on whatever is handy. Writing funny stuff just comes naturally to them.
So we decided to start a site to feature the genius of the baby bards among us. Our own kids have written crazy-funny things and we figure so has pretty much every other kid in the universe.
We think you’ll enjoy this collection of stuff kids write. And we hope that you’ll share funny stuff you find that kids have written.
Leanne and Chase
Leanne Shirtliffe is a blogger and humor columnist whose motto is “If you can’t laugh at yourself, laugh at your kids.” You can read about life with her 8-year-old twins and husband at Ironic Mom. Leanne is the author of DON’T LICK THE MINIVAN: Things I Never Thought I’d Say As a Parent (Skyhorse, 2013). You can follow her on Twitter at LShirtliffe, on Facebook, or in her minivan, a.k.a. the Loser Cruiser.
Chase McFadden is standing in front of some mountains. When he’s not backdropping epic Wyoming vistas in his selfies, he’s attempting to keep up with his four spawn: Swim, Perpetual Motion, The Hellcat and Tax Credit #4. You can read about their adventures at Some Species Eat Their Young.
Brilliant. The site looks fantastic! Yous are gonna be making a lot of people happy. I mean happier than you already do.
You want to look through your mom’s archives for your kid writing? I bet that would be amusing. 😉
I agree. Even at age 5, Clay’s writing had to be cutting edge.
I’m totally digging your kid stuff! (: My only exposure, thus far, is abstract lines on my 15 month old’s clothes. But yea, he did correctly type an sms saying “Babe” 😉
Thanks. We look forward to submissions from you and your son in a few years.
This is great, and I wish I’d thought of it! Looking forward to reading more; thanks!
Thanks. We appreciate your support.
Site is hilarioius! ( Bit exaggerated here ) 🙂
keep it up and I enjoyed reading.
Your site is great, while I don’t have kids of my own I’m glad to finally come across a site that reminds me of the good reasons to procreate rather than making my ovaries shrink to the size of raisins.
Thanks! And we may change our byline to “Good reasons to procreate rather than making one’s ovaries shrink to the size of raisins.” That’s golden.
It’s soooo cute!!!
Things like these bring smiles to my face. makes me prod to be a teacher! (When I graduate) Love the site 😀

I work with kids. They make me giggle everyday! Great blog.:
totally agree. i think people are that much funnier when they aren’t trying to be or even realize they are. kids humor has a blunt priceless honesty to it also.
Way to go, team SKW 🙂
Looking forward for more side-splitting humor
your blog is a gem. kids really are AMAZING. i collect their drawings / sketches and match some insights and the result is a stream of posts.
I have nominated you for the versatile blogger award!
I chanced upon your blog today and loved it!
I am a mom to 2 daughters and I blog about the cheeky things my kids say in short bites. What started as an occasional hashtag on Twitter finally grew into a full-fledged blog last month – Things My Kids Say (http://sathyarg.wordpress.com).
(I wanted submit to your blog, but realized that you typically feature what kids write, while I capture what they say – do check it out)

Hi there, loving this blog. I’d be grateful if you could take a look at mine and follow if you like it BB )0(
I can say – Your kids are really lucky. In our culture if you say something against parents, you’ll gonna be hit right away, which I disagree. Kids should be heared.
