I love you but…

Eight-year-old Vivian keeps a notebook in the backseat of her family’s car.

“For emergencies,” she says.

Evidently she had an emergency last week. While stopped at a red light, she handed her mom this note:

  1. A letter I wish to write sometimes…

  2. Leanne – the link from your blog to here didn’t work for me. Just wanted to let you know.

  3. A backup note. That kid is really thinking ahead. She’s a wise planner!

  4. I love getting letters like this from my kids ❤

  5. Best thing I’ve seen all day. Glad she found a graceful way to break the news to mom.

  6. Nice! I think I should have tried this with my mom….she might have taken it “sirusly” though. 😉 Lol!

  7. I recognize that girl. Reminds me of me when I was younger. She’s going to be a writer one day haha. Great post, thanks!

  8. I think she purposefully led with “sorry you are sick.” I don’t think it was really a postscript.

  9. Funny as I feel the exact same way about you sometimes too. You’re all busy with your life and your kids and Canada this and Canada that and teaching and your mom and sister and the minivan and the reading and the writing and the Wordbitches and the snow and the heat and chapstick and the proper use of the elipse. Oh, the proper use of the elipse. Don’t get me started on that.

Please don’t take this seriously either.

  10. A note my daughter wrote to me when she was about your daughter’s age is one I treasure. These are little pick me ups. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Hahahaha! This is so cuuuteeeee.

  12. That’s pretty cool, Vivian’s note. I’ll look forward to when our little ones are old enough to share writings with us 🙂
